How do Gulf corals beat the heat??
Water in the Gulf is hot in the summer. The coral reefs and
reef fish in the coastal waters of Abu Dhabi survive by trying to adapt with
these conditions. Professor Burt has taken samples of coral hump, from Abu
Dhabi and sent them to a lab in Britain to see how these reefs to survive.
Through lack of green algae the coral skeleton white calcite becomes visible.
They live of fat reserves for only one week, but after that they need to take
in algae or it will die. The corals try to find new environment after detaching,
so they find a rock to attach themselves and start a colony of its own. They
have led him to doubt the coral seeding should be exploration and production in
the Gulf region, which would enhance cross-border calls agreements to protect
the environment.
